Teaching Philosophy
“No one educates anyone, no one educates himself; men educate one another, mediated by the world.” — Paulo Freire

Teaching, for me, is not just a profession — it’s a calling. I believe a teacher can positively influence not only their students, but entire generations, communities, and even the scholarly world. We guide, we inspire, and we create opportunities for students to become their best selves.

A Lifelong Passion
My teaching roots run deep. My grandfather was a teacher and superintendent, and several of my aunts and uncles also taught. At just eleven years old, I was already “teaching” — first to my grandmother’s flowers in the backyard (yes, really!), then to children in my community. My father bought me a blackboard, my aunts supplied the chalk, and I even rewarded my “students” with small gifts. From those early days, teaching has always been my joy.

My Approach
I blend content knowledge with real-world application, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills. My learner-focused, mastery-oriented methods include:
-
Engagement: interactive lectures, case studies, and simulations
-
Encouragement: creating a safe space to make mistakes and grow
-
Evaluation: regular feedback to help students track progress
I bring high energy into every class because I believe enthusiasm inspires learning. And I hold deep respect for diversity, cultures, and individual learning styles.

The Heart of My Work
I live by Jeffrey R. Holland’s words:
“If some students are unresponsive, maybe you can’t teach them yet, but you can love them. And if you love them today, maybe you can teach them tomorrow.”

I believe language learning is a relationship. My role isn’t just to teach words and rules, but to understand my students — their culture, challenges, and goals. When trust and connection come first, confidence and fluency follow naturally.

To me, teaching is service — a chance to make a meaningful impact, inspire confidence, and equip students with the tools to build a successful future.

Here at Connect, my mission is simple: to help learners win — in language, in opportunity, and life.
